Cookie Policy

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Card Butler (operating under the trade name "TCG Inventory") uses cookies and similar technologies on https://www.tcg-inventory.com and the related web application.

For broader information about how we process personal data, please see our Privacy Policy.

2. What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. They help websites remember information about your visit, such as preferences and session state.

3. Cookies We Use

We currently use the following categories of cookies on our platform:

• Strictly Necessary Cookies: Required for core authentication, security, and account access.
• Functional Preference Cookies: Used to remember interface and product preferences.
• Consent Cookie: Stores your cookie banner choice so we do not repeatedly ask on every page load.

4. Cookie Details (Current Implementation)

• Authentication: tcginv.session_token and __Secure-tcginv.session_token (strictly necessary).
• TCG preference: tcg_preference (functional preference).
• Sidebar state: sidebar_state (functional preference).
• Cookie preferences: cookie_choice and cookie_non_essential (strictly necessary for consent management).
• Landing style vote: tcg_landing_style_vote (functional preference; remembers this browser's homepage style vote so switching styles moves that vote).

Specific cookie names may evolve as our platform changes, but this page will be updated to reflect material changes.

5. Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate usage and improve the service. Based on Vercel's implementation, this analytics tooling is cookieless and does not rely on cross-site tracking cookies. It loads only after you allow non-essential cookies.

We also use PostHog for product analytics, including which features are shown. PostHog may store an identifier in a cookie or in local storage. It loads across the site, including public collector profiles (/u/…) and public playgroups (/g/…), so a visitor who does not have an account is included. PostHog for this service is hosted in the European Union.

6. Managing Cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in browser settings. If you disable strictly necessary cookies, parts of the platform may not function correctly (for example, sign-in and authenticated app routes).

You can change the non-essential cookie choice anytime using cookie settings (also linked in the site footer). That choice controls Vercel Web Analytics. PostHog is described in section 5.
